I'm going to be posting some rare and some not-so-rare "gems" ( that's really in one's own opinion isn't it? ) from the 80's. I was and am a huge fan of the 12-inch singles that seemed to flourish during that decade and now I want to share them with the world. Ain't life grand?
Here's our first 2 selections:
"Invisible [Extended Version]" - Alison Moyet
British singer Alison Moyet was a member of Yazoo (they were called Yaz here in the U.S.) from 1981-83. In '84 she released her first solo album, "Alf". No, this was before that cat-eating alien. Stop it. Seriously. It was. Anyways, Moyet broke the top 40 in 1984 with this song, presented here in it's extended glory.
"Tell Her About It [Extended Mix]" - Billy Joel
Well... it's Billy Joel. And it's remixed. Extended even. Pretty rare for his music. Enjoy!

I've added your link to my blog as well, thanks for linking to me. I'll be checking out your blog regularly, 80s tunes are great so I'm sure I'll find some cool stuff here.
Hey Uncle Mike! I just gave you a big plug on my blog too. I've got the "Night Shift" soundtrack that you're looking for. I think I downloaded a CD version of "Toys" too; I know I have it on cassette; gimme a day or two to look for 'em.
Back in Long Island the Girls were Laying across Hempstead Turnpike for Him.
This is a very nice re-mix. I look forward to your other selections.
Vince
Thank you to all of you! Vinnie, you are the man. Been looking for those 2 soundtracks for a while. I'm certainly not going to be able to update this site as much as I want to, but I'll keep them coming on a regular basis at least.
Cool idea for a blog, I dig the 12" Maxi Singles" myself. If you dig around my blog you will find some.
Thanks!
I have been looking all over for INVISIBLE by Alison Moyet! thank you! Thank You!! THANK YOU!!! I just wanna cry out loud! AARRGGHH!! Uncle Mike - You just made my world incredibly more beautiful today!
Unfortunately the Invisible 12" skips several times at the 1:54 mark and several other times as well.
Billy Joel "Tell Her About It" 12in mix by John "Jellybean" Benitez - no less!
Jellybean's mix really shows what a good job (producer) Phil Ramone did of making a modern recording sound authentically old - for the regular album version. A homage to the 60's Motown sound!
